Description

Not every Christmas tree needs thick green branches and a familiar triangular shape. Feather, tinsel and lighted display trees take the basic idea of a Christmas tree in very different directions, creating everything from old fashioned ornament trees to sparkling metallic statements and glowing silhouettes. Some are designed to hold a collection. Others are interesting enough to become the decoration themselves.

Feather trees have an especially distinctive look. Their widely spaced branches leave breathing room between ornaments, allowing individual pieces to hang without disappearing into dense greenery. Green and ivory versions can feel traditional or quietly nostalgic, and their simple silhouettes work beautifully with glass ornaments, vintage-inspired decorations and small themed collections. A tabletop feather tree is also a practical way to display ornaments when there is not room for another full size Christmas tree.

Tinsel trees bring an entirely different personality. Silver, pewter and other metallic finishes catch surrounding light and instantly suggest the sparkle of retro Christmas decorating. Some are left simple for a clean sculptural look, while others arrive decorated with colorful ornaments, beads or glitter. They work especially well with nostalgic glass ornaments, reflectors and bright midcentury inspired colors, but a tinsel tree can be just as striking standing on its own.

Lighted trees move the collection from ornament display into atmosphere. Sparse alpine trees can create the suggestion of a winter forest, while illuminated willow and wire trees use exposed branches and points of light to create dramatic silhouettes. A single larger tree can anchor a room, while smaller trees can be grouped around village houses, Christmas figures or tabletop scenes. The styles may be very different, but they share one useful quality: each gives Christmas decorating a new structure to build around.

Why Shop Christmas Feather, Tinsel & Lighted Trees at Traditions?

We have a soft spot for trees that refuse to look like every other Christmas tree in the room. Open feather branches can finally give favorite ornaments the attention they deserve, tinsel brings instant sparkle and nostalgia, and a bare lighted tree can transform an empty corner with little more than its silhouette.

Serving collectors since 1994, Traditions is a family-owned holiday store with a carefully curated assortment of Christmas feather, tinsel and lighted trees from Ragon House, Gerson Companies, K & K Interiors, Creative Co-op, RAZ Imports and other favorite makers. We personally inspect products as they arrive and photograph our pieces in-house so you can better see their branch structure, finishes, proportions and decorative details. Whether you're looking for a special tree for an ornament collection or a glowing statement piece for a Christmas display, our knowledgeable customer service team is always happy to help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are feather tree branches spaced so far apart?

The open branch structure is one of the defining characteristics of feather style trees and makes them especially useful for displaying ornaments. The extra space allows individual ornaments to hang freely and remain visible rather than disappearing behind surrounding branches. Always consider the size and weight of your ornaments in relation to the individual tree.

Can I decorate a tinsel tree with ornaments?

Many tinsel trees can be incorporated into ornament displays, but construction and branch strength vary. Lightweight glass ornaments and smaller vintage-inspired decorations can look especially striking against metallic branches. Check the individual tree's construction and specifications before adding ornaments, particularly heavier pieces.

Are all lighted Christmas trees in this collection meant to replace a traditional full size tree?

No. Some are substantial floor standing trees, while others function more like decorative accent trees. Lighted willow, wire and alpine styles can illuminate an entryway, corner or Christmas display without serving as the home's primary tree. Check individual dimensions, power requirements and manufacturer instructions to determine the best placement for each design.
