An Old World Christmas glass building ornament. The famous White House is the home of the President of the United States while he is in office. It's the most important building in Washington, D.C., as well as the Capital Building, which are the primary focus of this ornament. Construction on the White House commenced in 1792 and after 8 years of construction, the first President to occupy the White House, John Adams and his wife Abigail, moved in even though it was quite unfinished. The British set fire in an attempt to burn down the White House in 1814. Construction on the United States Capitol building started in 1793 and became the home of the Congress and legislative branch.
