An Old World Christmas glass ornament. The Caduceus, or Staff of Hermes, has become synonymous with the doctors, hospitals and those in medical profession, however it actually doesn't really have a direct connection to healthcare. Often confused for the Staff of Asclepius, (which is a symbol of a snake wrapped around a rod, representing the god of medicine) the winged staff of Hermes has two snakes entwined around it and is often connected with commerce and the planet Mercury. This glass ornament representation has bright red wings with gold glitter accents that match the gold snakes and staff. Makes a great gift for a doctor or nurse!
