Since 1962, Cuban cigars were illegal in the United States due to a trade embargo enacted by President Kennedy against Fidel Castro's government. It was only in January 2015 that the embargo was loosened by President Obama to allow importation of Cuban tobacco products, but the Cuban cigar still holds a place of reverence for cigar smokers thanks to it's manufactured scarcity and unmatched quality.
