Stingrays are from a group called "Sea Rays" and are common in temperate seas around the world. The Stingray's unique flat body allows it to conceal itself in the sand. They swim by undulating their bodies or flapping their sides like wings. Interestingly, stingrays are related to sharks! Stingrays are usually shy and docile, but will "sting" when stepped on in shallow water.
