Saltbox houses originated in Colonial New England. This small Red Saltbox House is designed small enough to be displayed in a village under your Christmas tree or on a mantel, and represents the true saltbox style with a long pitched roof that slopes toward the back of the house. The front of the house has two stories and the back has only one story, due to the sloped roof. There are usually lots of window panes in the front of saltbox houses as well. We think it is just a fabulous mini house that belongs in any village, whether it be under your Christmas tree or on a mantel surrounded by batting and bottle brush trees. Similar to the red barn house, which is one of the favorites at Traditions that sells out every year, we're sure it will be just as popular. This house is decorated for the holidays with a wreath above each window and door, and it has bottle brush trees in the front. Snow has fallen on the roof and dusted the trees, making it look like a complete winter scene!
